Last Friday we had a special delivery to our house. M and I decided that instead of getting gifts for each other for Mother's/ Father's day, we would instead get a tree for the front yard. We don't have many trees in our yard-a few little tiny trees, so this is something we have been wanting to do for awhile. We went and picked out a Bradford Pear tree at a local nursery and they delivered it to us the same week! It was quite a large one so they had to spade it in. Here is a little lesson in tree spadery (is that a word?) I had no idea but they actually come without the tree first and spade the hole which pulls out the "plug". They then take this plug back to the nursery and come back with the tree.....who knew?
Getting ready to dig the hole.
Pulling out the "plug"
And he is back with the tree!
Positioning it just right. During this entire process, there were two little boys that were totally amazed!
Our new Bradford Pear tree :)
We like it! We are also getting a birch tree for the back yard that will be delivered right after Memorial Day. That one will have to be dug in since we have a fence. You know you are getting old when you get excited about trees!
