Mariachi Band
I decided that I had cooked enough for awhile and needed a night out. We went to one of our favorite mexican restaurants in town (Tequila's for those of you that live around here). We were very suprised when we walked in to see a 5 piece Mariachi band warming up. M and I thought, "Oh this is great, G will love this!" G loves any kind of music and loves to dance. I'm not sure that he has ever witnessed live music before though. We sit down and start to chow on chips and queso when the band waltzes over to our table and decides this would be a great table to start the night with. They are all dressed in spanish attire and are smiling at G thinking he will be a great audience. They strike up their first song and I mean to tell you I have never seen G's eyes get so big. I really thought at any moment he was going to burst out in tears. The music was quite loud-especially the trumpet player who was basically over G's shoulder! I put my hand over to touch G's face and he tried everything just to hide his face behind my hand. He was not thinking this band thing was very enjoyable. They played a very "happy" spanish song-M and I felt like we were back in Cancun (errr...maybe not). They finished the song (none too soon) and moved on and played at a few other tables. The farther they got away, the more G began to get into the music by dancing and clapping. By the end of dinner, he thought they were great. He didn't eat much for dinner, but I guess the enjoyment factor was there!
