We had a CRAZY and busy weekend but we are finally moved into our new house! The moving process started on Thursday when my parents got here. They were on a motorcycle trip and came from Door County, WI to Peoria. I think they were tired when they arrived from their vacation but there was no time to rest-we put them to work! M picked up the U-Haul truck on Thursday afternoon and the loading began. We had a lot of help from friends and some of M's co-workers. We would still be moving if it wasn't for them! We got most of the house empy by Thursday night and we all slept on mattresses on the floor which was less than ideal but it worked.
Friday morning was even crazier. We woke up at 6am and all worked very hard at getting the rest of the stuff out of the house. M and I had to be at the closing of our house by 9am, so it was a push to get everything finished by then. My parents were awesome and took the boys and the dog to the new house to meet the delivery men who were delivering our new fridge and the Direct TV guy. I think they were glad to see us when we got back around 12:45 from both closings. My awesome friend Mandy took G for the afternoon (with no nap) and kept him busy which allowed us to focus on the house.
After the closings we began to slowly unload the truck ourselves while we waited for more help to arrive around 5. Again, we had lots of friends helping us and we were able to get the truck unloaded as well as the storage garage cleaned out by Friday evening. Even though we were exhausted from everything, we still spent most of Saturday unpacking and trying to find places for everything. My sister and brother-in-law were here and helped us out big time by entertaining the boys.
We have enjoyed being able to relax some this week and not feel the sense of urgency that we have felt the last month. We still have a lot to do, but we can work at it slowly and get things just where we want them. We love our new house and all the extra space. G is adjusting well although he has asked to go "home" which makes me a little sad. He quickly bounces back when he remembers his new playset in the backyard. I will post some pictures of the house once we get a little more settled.
