The Iowa State Fair

This past weekend we went back to Iowa to go to the Iowa State Fair. We have always gone to the fair growing up, so it is filled with lots of memories. One thing I love about the fair is that every year there is lots of new things to see, but it is also very traditional and there is always the old favorites. We always hit the Super Slide, walk through the varied industries building, check out some of the animals, and eat till we can't eat anymore! I love going and I was really excited to take both boys this year.
This guy came up right behind G and caught him a little off guard. He warmed up quickly and still talks about him, calling him his "farm friend" (who knows?)
One of our first stops was a place called "Little Hands on the Farm". It is meant to teach kids all about the process of farming. It was free and totally adorable!
Grandma Kim helped him to get his basket and apron ready.
There first step was to plant their seeds.
They went through and picked vegetables and apples.
They rode their tractors to town.
They milked a cow (totally fake)-and G thinks he was peeing. I don't think he got this step at all :)
At the end they went to the Farmer's Market and sold all the goods they had harvested and were paid. They got to take their money to the grocery store and buy something. G bought some mini muffins.
After we finished with the farm we went to some of the barns to see the animals.

Here we all are at the end of the Super Slide-you can't see in this picture but it is really tall. I thought for sure G wouldn't want to go by himself when we got to the top, but he insisted and loved it!
You can't come to the fair without seeing the big boar.
G went on a few rides on the midway. He could do that all day if we let him.

G and I showing our Cyclone pride too!
We had so much fun! Hopefully we can make it back next year!
