Weekend and VBS

We had a great weekend here at the Schreurs' household. Friday night we ate at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in town. All of us, including G, really like Mexican so it was a nice treat. We put the kids to bed and M and I watched a Redbox movie, Hallpass. It was funny and entertaining, and one that didn't require too much thinking :)
Saturday was M and my 6th wedding anniversary. He was an awesome husband and let me sleep in while he and the boys went to the donut shop. They brought back some doughnuts for breakfast which was yummy. G is so funny because he says he loves doughnuts, but all he ever eats is the frosting. After lunch, I headed to the malls to do a little shopping by myself-a luxury! I got a few things for G. I am slowly trying to start his fall wardrobe for school. So when I have a coupon for a store, I will go and pick up a few things. I also bought a new outfit for myself to wear to dinner-hey a girl has to look good! Saturday night we got a babysitter for the boys which hardly ever happens. G as so excited because there were 2 people coming to watch them-Mark, who is a basketball player (my friend's husband is the coach so he gave us the recommendation) and Kelsi, his sister who loves kids. The boys had a great time with them and were good (I think). M and I went to a nice dinner at Johnny's Italian Steak House and then for a few drinks with some friends afterwards. We were out late, 10:30 (don't laugh, that is late for us!).
Sunday M played golf in the afternoon. I cannot imagine wanting to go to anything in this heat, but he said he had fun and played well so that is all that matters. G started Vacation Bible School at our church. He will go every night 6-8 thru Thursday. He was VERY excited, although I think he had no clue what it even was. When we got there and I took him and his friend Elizabeth to their spot, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, can you leave now?" Ouch! A tear or two would have been nice :) No, I really do love how he is so independent and adaptable. When I picked him up I heard all about snack, playing tag, reading a book (he couldn't remember what it was about), and singing a song about Jesus.
We are hoping this week is a good one and maybe, just maybe cools down a bit......not looking likely!
