G had tubes put into his ears this morning. He has had 9 ear infections in his short three year life, so it was time. We had to leave the house at 6:30 am to be at the surgery center by 7. They schedule surgery based on age, so he was the first one at 8am this morning. I tried to prepare him ahead of time that when he woke up, he wouldn't be able to eat or drink until after the surgery was over. He did ok with this but was not real thrilled once we got to the surgery center and he couldn't have any juice. He did so great during the whole process. The surgery was so fast. I think M and I (and B) were in the waiting room for 15 minutes before they called us back to tell us he was done. The Dr. said he had never seen a child G's age be put under so easily. Apparently he was talking with the anesthesiologist about race cars as he was going to sleep :) He did cry as he was waking up. He kept saying, "I want to go home!" I should have thought that maybe giving him an entire sippy cup of apple juice was not a good idea after surgery. Anytime I get put under anesthesia, I get very sick and throw up. Sure enough, in the van on the way home, he threw up ALL of the juice he had just drank. The poor guy didn't really know what was going on and said, "What'd I do?" He did very well once we got home and really only spent a couple of hours on the couch watching Barney before he was up and playing with toys. I was so proud of how brave he was!
Right before leaving for surgery. He was excited that he got to wear his jammies and bring his softies!
Getting ready for surgery.
*Sorry, no picks on the way home-puke was a flyin!
Feeling much better. It's good to see that smile again :)
Glad Gavin is doing well! What a trooper!
